TJM Roofing & Building - New Roof Installations

About New Roofs

From replacing missing, damaged or loose roof tiles to complete new roof installations.

If the roof tiles are beyond the occasional replacement and the cost of repairs are increasing or the roof is letting in too much rain water then it may be time for a complete new roof installation.

New roof installations last for at least 25 years and many beyond that, if properly maintained.

For a complete new roof, we remove the tiles, battens and old roof membrane and replace with a new breathable membrane, treated wooden battens and re-tile.

There are choices of roof tile in different designs, type and colour to choose from.

Slate Roofs

Slate roofing is popular and appealing to many home owners.

Advantages of slate tiles:
Natural slate tiles are extremely long lasting and are fire resistant.
They can last much longer than other types of roof tiles.
There are different types of slate, welsh slate has a really good reputation.

Disadvantages of slate tiles:
However, as slate is dug out of the ground it is more expensive to source and buy.
Some homes may need structural reinforcements to support the weight of slate tiles.
Slate is durable but walking on them or anything heavy on them can cause them to crack.
There are two minds on the suitability as a surface for solar panels, some say it's not a suitable surface, others say it is safe to have them installed.
